Teaching values to our students is more important today than ever. As educators and parents, we are students’ greatest influence and it is our responsibility to teach them to be people with values so that they can grow up to be loving, confident, and respectful adults.
The Early Years Foundation Stage in St. George follows the British legal framework, which covers children from birth to five years of age. At the school we offer Pre-Nursery (2 years), Nursery (3 years) and Reception (4 years) courses.
We know that every child is unique and in constant development. They grow and mature at different rates so everyone needs an environment that helps them grow as individuals, respecting their different speeds and learning needs.
The curriculum is based on seven areas of learning and development. They are divided into three main areas and four specific areas.
The main areas are fundamental to developing the child’s learning and maturation skills and are key to progress in all other areas.
The three main areas are:
Personal, social and emotional development. – Communication and language- Physical development
Specific areas include the skills and knowledge essential for children to successfully participate in society.
The four specific areas are:
Language – Mathematics – Understanding the world – Artistic expression and design
At St. George we implement this curriculum through carefully planned activities through a project-based approach, both inside and outside the classroom. The programming focuses on the importance of children’s play, social and emotional development.
