What an exciting couple of days we just had at St. George school!! We took a break from our regular classes to become scientists and undertake a series of scientific investigations and activities.
The children had fun making balloon rockets, causing chemical reactions, learning how to use a microscope to view cells, building solar ovens, completing group challenges and making Oobleck slime!
Year 5 and 6 were busy trying to melt chocolate and marshmallows with their solar ovens! Our balloon rocket challenge was quite impressive, one group got their rocket to cross the playground! We also had a science marshmallow structure challenge and learnt how to use a microscope with which we examin ed a variety of cells and tissues found in the human body!
Next week we will also have a visit from a giant 3D Planetarium where each class will complete a scientific workshop on a variety of themes, investigations and activities.
